Barbara J. Pitzlin of Juneau passed away Saturday, August 27th, at the age of 75 years.  She was born on March 27, 1941 in Beaver Dam, the daughters of Erwin and Helen (nee Kostolni) Klas.  She married John H. Pitzlin on July 2, 1960 in Beaver Dam.  

Barbara attended Moraine Park Technical College and received a degree as an LPN.  She used this education and new skill working at Clearview Nursing Home in Juneau, where she worked for more than 20 years until she retired.  For a time after her retirement from Clearview she worked at Best Western Hotel in Beaver Dam.  Barbara was an avid Packer fan, and if the team was not doing well, she would help coach loudly to the TV.  She also possessed great dexterity, enjoying both crocheting and quilting.  She loved her family gatherings, and in her quiet times, enjoyed reading, and playing sheepshead and cribbage.  Barbara enjoyed canning with her late husband from their garden’s bounty each year.  She enjoyed computer games and puzzles.  Barbara was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church.  Barbara and her late husband, John, were greeters at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, welcoming parishioners and guests who attended services. Their warmth will be truly missed.  

She is survived by her loving children Deborah Buege of Lomira, Jeffrey Pitzlin of Juneau, Karla Lockwood of Fond du Lac, James Pitzlin of Burnett, John Pitzlin, Jr., of Juneau, and Joseph (Cheryl) Pitzlin of Juneau.  Also surviving are seven grandchildren, two step grandchildren,six great-grandchildren and one step great-grandchild, her sister Arlene Nowak, her brother-in-law Donald Jaehnke, her sister-in-law Carol Klas, and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.  Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, her husband John H. Pitzlin, Sr., October 24, 2014, her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Laura Klas, her brother-in-law Francis “Doc” Nowak, her brother Lloyd Klas, her sister Patricia Jaehnke, and her infant sister Caroline.  

Visitation is Wednesday, August 31st from 4-7 p.m. at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Juneau, and Thursday, September 1stfrom 10-11 a.m. at Church.  Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m.  Rev. Paul Schupmann will officiate.  Interment St. John’s Church Cemetery, Juneau.  Memorials to St. John’s Ev.Lutheran Church would be appreciated.

The family would like to extend a special ‘thank you’ to Dr. Seth Barudin and the staff at Hillside Manor for their compassionate care of their mother.  The Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home – Juneau is serving the family.
