Leah M. Gildemeister, 85, of Horicon, entered eternal peace while surrounded by her loving family at the Hillside Manor Nursing Home, Beaver Dam, WI, on Monday, July 10, 2017.

Leah was born in Arapahoe, Wyoming, on September 18, 1931, to Jacob and Pauline (Heberlein) Becker.   As a young child, her family moved to Milwaukee and she attended St. Matthews Lutheran School where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Later her family moved to Menomonee Falls where she attended Nelson School and this is where she met her husband Clarence. 

Leah and Clarence were married at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lannon, WI, and shared 61 wonderful years of marriage.   They started their married life in Menomonee Falls, WI and in 1961 moved to Dodge Co, WI.   They farmed in these areas until 1976, and continued to make Juneau and Horicon their home.  Both were members of the St. John’s Lutheran Church of Juneau.

Leah’s life happiness was her faith and to be surrounded by her family.    She enjoyed every aspect of being a home maker and was known for her creativity of beautiful crochet work, crafts, cake decorating, gardening and bird watching. .    She was employed as a care giver.

 Leah is survived by her three children, Clarence Gildemeister, Normal, IL, Linda (Robert) Feldman, Mayville, WI and Bonnie (Darrell) Krause, Horicon WI. 

Grandchildren:  Bethany Gildemeister, Normal, IL, Christopher Krause (Special friend – Laura Schmied), Columbus, WI., Tanya (Leigh) Krause – Hender, Melbourne, Australia, Megan Krause (Fiancée Ryan Martin), Beaver Dam, WI, and Kaitlin (Dylan) Krause-Etter, Beaver Dam, WI

She was blessed with five (soon to be six) wonderful Great Grandchildren:   Stefhen Krause-Etter, Braylen Martin, Iseabail (Izzy) Krause, Eloise (Lulu) Krause, McKenna Martin and Baby Girl Krause-Etter arriving in September.

She is survived by her brothers and sister Jack (Shirley) Becker, Warren, WI, Alex (Donna) Becker, Lannon, WI, and Harold (Mary Lou) Becker, Sussex, WI, and Kathy (Bernie) Egan, Sussex, WI. 

She is further survived by her sisters-in-law Gail (Leonard) Becker, Milwaukee, WI, Grace Peil, Horicon, WI and Edna De Koning, Menomonee Falls, WI, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many cherished friends. 

Leah was preceded in death by her husband Clarence, her parents, and her brother Leonard Becker. Also, her step mother Marie Becker, and-in-laws Dorothy Feuerhelm, Walter Feuerhelm, Harvey Peil, and Jerome De Koning.

 

Visitation will be Friday, July 21, 2017 at St John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Juneau, WI from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM.   Funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM at the church.   Rev. David Brandt will officiate.  Interment, Juneau city cemetery.

Memorials to St. John’s Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
