Louis E. Nehls of Juneau passed away Thursday, June 15, 2017 at the age of 92 years at Hillside Mano in Beaver Dam. He was born August 13, 1924 in the town of Oak Grove, WI., the son of Louis and Hattie (nee Strassburg) Nehls Sr. He was confirmed April 10, 1938 at St. Johns. Louis was married to Lola D. Rohde, June 15, 1946 by Rev. Nommensen at St. Johns. Louis was president of Louis Nehls Dairy Farms. He was a private pilot for many years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing especially in Alaska. He was President of Juneau Lions Club and served on the board at M & I Bank and the board of Beaver Dam Community Hospital. He also served as an Alderman for the City of Juneau, WI.
Louis is survived by his wife, Lola D. (nee Rohde) Nehls, his children Renee (Larry) Panzer, Steven (Pamela) Nehls, Nadine Nehls (Dr. Jeffrey Grossman), and Annette Nehls (Gary Walsh). Grandchildren Sarah & Mark (Kira)Panzer, Jessica (Nick) Nehls- Rennhack, Lindsay (Reggie) Nehls-Laubmeier, Mila Grossman, Samuel Walsh. 5 Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Dorothy Nehls Guse, and his sister-in-law Dorothy Nehls Knaup. He is preceded in death by his parents Hattie and Louis Nehls, sister Mildred Klein, brothers Willard & Karl Nehls.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hillside Manor, Dr. Sharon Haase, Dr. Matt Wolf, and Dr. Jeffrey Grossman for the excellent care they gave Louis.
Visitation is Tuesday June 20, 2017 from 3:30PM-5:30PM at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 400 S. Main Street Juneau, WI. Funeral service will follow at 5:30PM at church. Rev. Paul Schupmann will officiate. Interment is Wednesday June 21, 2017 at 10AM at Juneau City Cemetery.
Memorials to St. John’s church school, Juneau Public Library or the Juneau Lions Club would be appreciated.
