Mae E. (Gernetzke) Schwensow

Mae E. Schwensow of Juneau passed away Sunday July 31, 2016 at Clearview Nursing Home at the age of 94years.  She was born February 5, 1922 in the Town of Lowell in Dodge County, the daughter of William & Elizabeth (nee Gernetzke) Mertz.  She was a member of St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ in Juneau.  On March 28, 1942 she married Clarence Schwensow in Juneau.  Together they farmed and ran a tavern, the Ox-Bo Resort on Lake Sinissippi.  Mae enjoyed being with her family and fishing bullheads.

 Survivors include her daughter Carol Buelter, her grandchildren Chad (Carla) Buelter, Mark (Jaime) Buelter, great grandchildren Taylor, Andrew and Brenna Buelter all of Juneau.  Sisters Vida Stueber of Juneau, twin sister Mabel Schumacher of Fond du Lac, brothers Ervin (Ruth) Mertz of West Bend, and Otto Mertz of Beaver Dam.  She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Mae is preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1994, and son-in-law Conrad Buelter, sisters Erna Mertz, Iva Meyer, Hilda Maas, Della Mertz, her brothers Lyle Mertz, infant brother Rohen Mertz, brothers-in-law Clarence Stueber, Art Schumacher, John Meyer, Dale Maas, and sister-in-law Marlene Mertz.

Visitation is Saturday, August 6, 2016, 12 Noon-2:00 at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home Juneau.  Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 at the Funeral Home.  Sandra Schieble will officiate.  Interment Juneau City Cemetery.

Memorials to St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ would be appreciated.
