Marleen “Putz” Weiss of Juneau, WI passed away peacefully on February 8, 2016 at the age of 76.  She was born July 7, 1939 in Hustisford the daughter of Walter and Clara (nee Bischoff) Schmeling.

 

Marleen was born and raised in Hustisford and graduated from Hustisford High School. She married Allen Weiss on June 24, 1961, and they had two children: Lee Allen and Loralee.  Marleen worked for 33 years as the early morning cook at several family restaurants in Juneau, where she enjoyed seeing many people that would become good friends.  She was a long time member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church and served many years on the alter committee.  She especially enjoyed her years volunteering on the Juneau Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary and participating in the many annual summer picnics and parades.  A special place for Putz was the family property in Adams-Friendship, where time was spent walking trails, riding their tandem bike, cross country skiing or just sitting around the campfire visiting with family and friends.

 

Marleen is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Allen “Ollie” and their two children; Lee Allen (Kay) Weiss, and Loralee (Bob) Engels. Her treasured grandchildren; Ashely (Shad) Lee of Utah; Corrine, Brett, and Allison Engels of Appleton; Dylan Stegner of Juneau, and great-grandchildren Brelynn and Wyatt Lee of Utah.  Marleen is also survived by her brother Ronald Schmeling of Hustisford and brother-in-law Robert (Delores) Weiss other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

 

A special thank you is extended to the compassionate caregivers who helped her during this time at Trӧsten Haus and Hillside Hospice (Amber, Amy and Kim)

 

Visitation is Sunday, February 14, 2016 at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church Juneau from 12:30-2:00 p.m.  Funeral Service will follow at church at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Paul Schupmann will officiate.  Interment Juneau City Cemetery. 

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Marleen’s name are appreciated to: Green Valley Enterprises, Beaver Dam; BDCH Hillside Home Care or St. John’s Ev. Lutheran School, Juneau.
