Betty Gehrmann Obituary

Betty Ann Gehrmann, (nee Peabody) of Elkhorn, formerly Lake Beulah, passed away peacefully May 5, 2018 with family at her side. Betty is survived by her daughters, Mary Kay (Mark) Wisner of Elkhorn, Carol (Robert) Klement of East Troy, three grandchildren, Carleen (Derek) Nest, Neal and Kate Klement and two great granddaughters, Kinley Kay & Kaylyn Ann Nest, & sister in-law Marian White. Close friend of Joyce & the late Fred L. Knop, & the late Berdina Seggermann of Peoria, IL along with many other friends and relatives. Betty is preceded in death by her husband Ralph, and her parents, Vernon E. Peabody & Esther Pribble.

Born in Washburn, IL, Betty took courses at the University of Dubuque and graduated from Ray-Vogue School of Design, Chicago, IL. Betty was then employed most notably at Dun & Bradstreet & the Peoria Journal Star, both in Peoria, IL. Betty married her husband Ralph J. Gehrmann on June 23, 1956 after meeting at The Riviera Dance Hall in Lake Geneva, WI. Ralph & Betty shared 59 wonderful years together at the time of his passing in February, 2016. Together, they raised and started their family in West Allis, WI and were residents of Lake Beulah for nearly 50 years.

Betty served as Lake Beulah Yacht Club Sidestays President in 1992, as well as a Yacht Club Member for 63 years. She enjoyed tennis, golf, garden club, cooking, and entertaining. She, Ralph, and several of their friends embarked upon many trips and vacations worldwide. Betty had a deep love of Lake Beulah, and for the many cherished friends and memories made there.

Betty was a most proud mother, nurturing Grandmother & Great-Grandmother, and always had a way of making those in her presence feel special, loved, and appreciated. Her glowing smile made an impression upon all that she met. She set the standard for proper manners, was an avid shopper, interior decorator, and most of all remembered for her sweet, positive, and generous personality.
