Daniel J. (D.J.) DeMars

Daniel J. (D.J.) DeMars, of Slinger, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at the age of 64.  Dan was born January 27, 1954 in Park Falls, WI son of David ‘Bud’ and Irene (Kundinger) DeMars. He was a graduate of Slinger High School. Prior to his illness he was employed at Weninger Asphalt Paving Inc. of Hartford.

If you knew Dan you may have thought him gruff, ornery or mean but if you knew him well you also know that he could be a marshmallow, too. Dan lived simply, but he enjoyed the little pleasures in life- family, friends, grilling/cooking, sheepshead, a good cup of coffee, a cigarette and yes, a beer. We will miss his HUGS because when he hugged you there was no doubt you were loved. Dan worked hard and played hard (always to win).

Dan is survived by his four siblings: David (Linda) of Sauk City, Minn., Paul (Kim) of St. Lawrence, WI, Joan (Tim) Rohleder of Green Bay, WI and Anne Gaustad of Sullivan, WI. He is further survived by brother-in-law Pete Asp, two nephews, Mike and Keith, 8 nieces-Susan, Laura, Karen, Angie, Kris, Lena, Elizabeth and Mariah, and also, Grandniece Vanessa, Grandnephews Brandon, Trevor, Joseph, Kellan and Brady with whom he had a close relationship.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Irene and two sisters Mary DeMars and Jean (DeMars) Asp.

A Visitation will be held at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home- Hartford, 226 S. Main St. from 4-6:00 p.m. on Friday, December 21, 2018. A graveside prayer service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday morning December 22, 2018.  Father Rick Stoffel will be officiating.

In Lieu of flowers the family would accept memorials towards DJ’s Funeral expenses.
