Phyllis Feller Obituary

Phyllis B. Feller of Hustisford was born to Eternal Life, August 18, 2019 at Advocate Aurora Medical Center in Hartford at the age of 95.  She was born April 16, 1924 in Hustisford, the daughter of Herman and Hilda (nee Graunke) Radloff. Phyllis was united in marriage to her sweetheart, Marvin A. Feller, at
St. Michael’s Church in the town of Hubbard on January 24, 1948.  Married for 71 years, they raised their 3 children in the village of Hustisford.  Marvin preceded Phyllis in death on January 16 of this year.

One of our favorite stories shared by our Mother was how she and Marvin were queen and king at Hustisford High School’s very first junior prom, given by the class of 1942. Phyllis also shared the story that she never had to fill out a job application.  Her employers came to her and offered her employment based on word of mouth they received regarding her intelligence, strong work ethic and pleasant personality.  She was employed by Rein Leitzke, Inc. and Medalist as Administrative Assistant and Office Manager.

Phyllis was the matriarch and rock of her family and we will be adrift without her wisdom and guidance.  She was a woman ahead of her time, setting an example for all of us to follow.  She had a zest for life and a lifelong desire for learning, be it swimming lessons, cooking classes, furniture refinishing and caning classes, quilting classes, dance classes with Marvin and using “You Tube” to obtain instructions for knitting the latest pattern for scarves.  She knitted/crocheted beautiful afghans for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends.  We were all in awe of how she stayed on the cutting edge of technology with cell phones, computers, iPads, the Internet, Facebook and FaceTime.  Phyllis enjoyed putting puzzles together, word puzzles, knitting, crocheting and furniture refinishing and caning.  She was a voracious reader and put on many miles taking walks.  She avidly followed “her Brewers” and proudly wore her Milwaukee Brewers T-shirt while watching games; she kept her Brewers teddy bear at her side during her hospital stay.

Phyllis was a Seaman, Second Class, in the U.S. Coast Guard, stationed in Palm Beach, Florida.  She served her country proudly and was honorably discharged in 1944 when she was called home to care for her 4 younger siblings following her mother’s death.  She was not only a mother to her own 3 children, but also to her 4 younger siblings.  She played a significant role in raising many of her grandchildren.  We all were blessed to have known and to have been loved by her.

Phyllis is survived by her children, George (Charlene) Feller of Lebanon, Jane (Pastor Kenneth) Wenzel of Sun Prairie, Nancy Feller of Illinois; her grandchildren, Christina Gallert, Jill Pfund, Kara Waters, Kimberly Wenzel, Kearen Feller, Charice Finley and Karissa Feller; her great-grandchildren Thea and Rylan Finley, Amelia and William Pfund, Abryanna and Ella Waters, Jade, Cole, Skye, Hope, Kane and Paige Feller.  Her brother Rodney (Phyllis) Radloff,  sisters Verne (Vilas) Hundt, and Gayle (Wayne) Stevenson.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marvin, her parents Herman and Hilda Radloff, her sisters Veleda Radloff, Shirley Zasada and Priscilla Lehmann.

The family would like to thank Dr. Eric Weber and his nurse Sandy for their incredible compassion, friendship and exceptional and loving care of our mother.  We would also like to thank the 3rd Floor nurses, nursing assistants, staff and palliative care doctors Dr. Francois Blumenfeld-Kouchner and
