Allen Weiss

Allen “Ollie” Weiss passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at the age of 92. He was born on January 4, 1934, the son of Frank and Hulda (Key) Weiss.

Al lived his entire life in Juneau. He was a 1951 graduate of Juneau High School. This is where his athletic abilities gave him opportunities to enjoy basketball, football, hockey, bowling, and his favorite sport, baseball.

Allen proudly served his country in the United States Army, Headquarters of the 2nd Infantry Division at Fort Lewis, WA and after some Reserve duties, received an Honorable Discharge in 1962. Following his military service, he returned home and continued serving the Juneau community in many ways. Most notably, he dedicated over 25 years to the Juneau Fire Department, where he was an EMS driver and later served as Fire Chief.

He worked at Dairylane Dairy and the Dodge County Courthouse before beginning employment at Dodgeland High School. It was a position he truly loved, as he was always willing to help a student. 

Allen was a lifelong member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he sang in the choir and served on numerous committees. 

Ollie had a deep love for the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. You could find him daily at the Juneau Rod and Gun Club, but the most special place for him was the family property in Adams-Friendship. Countless memories were made walking trails, riding the tandem bike, cross-country skiing, playing Sheepshead, and sitting around campfires visiting with family and friends.  

Allen was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 54 years, Marleen; and his brother, Robert Weiss.

Allen is survived by his children, Lee Allen (Kay) Weiss and Loralee (Robert Arthur) Engels; his treasured grandchildren, Ashely (Shad) Lee, Corrine Engels, Brett Engels, Allison Engels, and Dylan Stegner; and his great-grandchildren, Brelynn and Wyatt Lee.

A special thank you is extended to all the compassionate caregivers who helped care for Allen at Eagle’s Wings and Hillside Manor, especially social worker Becky and nurse Dawn, for their kindness and support.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026 from 12:30-2pm at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 400 S Main St, Juneau.  A funeral service will follow at 2pm and interment at the Juneau City Cemetery.
