Kevin Nordquist Obituary

Kevin Harold Nordquist
Born March 28, 1952 the son of Harold and Vesta Nordquist in Buffalo, Minnesota

Kevin Harold Nordquist passed away at his home in Horicon on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021 after his most courageous battle with “Leuk” Acute Myeloid Leukemia at the age of 69. He was surrounded by the love and laughter of family and friends from his birthday on March 28 until the time of his passing - with his wife, daughter and loving friend at his side. HIS HOUSE was full with family – his brother, sister-in-law, brother-in-law and son.

Kevin was preceded in death by his father Harold Nordquist and his mother Vesta (Stotts) Nordquist, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and siblings.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mary (Powell) Nordquist and his children Emily (Jarrell) Nordquist of Horicon, Colin (Margo) Nordquist of San Diego, CA; Keva Nordquist of Farmington, NM; Doug Nordquist of Bremerton, WA; Erik Nordquist of Farmington, NM. Kevin is also survived by his brother Earl (Penny) Nordquist of CA; sister Teresa (Linc) Haymaker of CO; brother-in-law Phil (Jenny) Powell of MD; two sisters-in-law Ann Powell of Oshkosh, WI and Lisa Powell of Venetia, PA and former wife Karen Nordquist of Bremerton, WA. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren and an abundance of friends.

Kevin’s passion was building things! He always wanted to build his own home – and that he achieved! A beautiful home built with love by himself, his wife, his children and many enlisted friends and family! He was a carpenter through & through all of his life. Kevin continued to accomplish “building” even while battling Leukemia for over 4 years. Over the past 4 years while Kevin was going through chemotherapy, he found a new joy and comfort in baking cookies. He would religiously bake large amounts of cookies and share them with friends near and far…he could “build” cookies for others and it gave him such joy.

He loved having fun and the camaraderie of others including being a member of The Moose Lodge in CA, shooting pool, playing horseshoes, reading, doing crosswords, beating many at trivia games, adventuring around the country and hosting the incredible Nordquist Frog Races. Most of all he loved working hard, putzing and being with family and friends all while having a good time!

St. Croix Hospice in Fond du Lac was tending Kevin and Mary at the time of his passing. The Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home in Hartford has served the family. Both of these organizations are greatly appreciated for their care and kindness. A celebration for Kevin will be held on April 17, 2021 in Horicon at the home of Kevin (Lucky) and Lisa Lucht, 304 Valley Street from 2pm-5pm. Please join us to celebrate his life!
