Dear Doug, Carol and family
My sincere sympathy. My mom always said it is very hard to lose a child before your self, it does not seem right. May God heal your hearts and lighten your sad and heavy hearts.
Doug Jr. will always be remembered as a loving, caring man, that's because he had you both as an example. He will be missed by his loving family for sure.

I hope to contact you in a short while to see how things are going, I am sure it is not easy. I want to give a huge thank you to Bob for calling me and letting me know, your family will always be near and dear to me. I had the pleasure of caring for them when they were so young and full of mischief, but were and still are good kids. You can be so proud of them. Go with God's speed Doug Jr.

Jack sends his sympathy as well, he did not meet Doug Jr. but thought a lot of
his parents at our visit and Bob and his family.

All my love,
Sandy (Strelow) Campnell

We are so sorry for your loss. Doug coached our daughter Megan in club volleyball allowing her to improve and play at the college level. He knew how to light her fire.
We spent many hotel nights on the road to games enjoying his company quick Witt and easy laugh. Miss you Doug, rip your work here is done.

I am so sorry for not only your loss, but the world's loss. Doug was one of the nicest people I've ever met. He was my volleyball coach at Cedarburg High School. He turned me into an athlete. I wanted to be a better player because of him, and I appreciate everything he has done for me and taught me. He is a good person to his very core, and he was my biggest cheerleader in practice and during a match. I'll always remember him jumping up and down on the sidelines, whooping at me with his fist in the air with a big smile on his face, in his signature sweatshirt, jeans, and working boots! Doug truly changed my life. I don't think I'd be where I am today without his guidance. I think a lot of people would say the exact same thing without any hesitation. May he rest in peace with his daughter, and may his family find solace in his passing that he is with her again.

Dear Sharon and Shannon,
I am heartbroken to hear of Doug's passing. Doug taught me so many important lessons about hard work, dedication, and what it means to be part of a team. For all those years, I thought he was just showing me how to play volleyball but now I realize he was teaching me how to be a better person. I wish I could tell him one last time how much his friendship has meant to me and how his positive influence in the lives of so many young girls has made them grow up into strong, confident women. May you find comfort in knowing how many lives were touched by Doug's kindness and generosity.
In deepest sympathy,
Meghan

Many condolences to the Hext family. I coached with Doug at Wisconsin Power when I was a young adult and always enjoyed listening to his stories, chatting about volleyball and taking any advice he had to offer. It was always clear how much he loved he family and was he a mentor to so many!

My deepest sympathies to Doug's family and those that knew him. I didn't know Doug until two years ago. At Bobby and Shelly Hulls roping, Bobby was helping Doug find some partners for the novice and introduced us and so we roped together. We had a clean run on the first steer and started talking while waiting for the second steer. It didn't talk long into the conversation and Doug started talking about his daughters and family. It was clearly evident how much he loved them. Doug won the novice that day and I was fortunate to rope with him in ropings after that. May you find strength in the love of family and friends.

We are so sorry to hear of Doug's passing. We got to know him for only a short time, while we kept our horses at the same barn a few years ago, but enjoyed many conversations and rides together. He was such a kind soul who obviously loved his family and horses very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with Sharon and the family at this most difficult time.

I had the privilege of having Doug as my coach for my last year at Milwaukee Sting - 18-1s 2005. He had the biggest heart and was so caring for all of his players. He put in SO much extra time to make us better players and better people. We had an absolute blast with Doug and he will be greatly missed. I find comfort that he is reunited with his beloved daughter and will keep my thoughts and prayers with his family - until we meet again. RIP.
