Roy Robert Kuhlman

Roy Robert Kuhlman, 75, of Horicon, passed away November 1, 2016, at Clearview in Juneau.  He was born July 23, 1941 in Watertown, the son of Clarence and Barbara (Kade) Kuhlman.

Roy graduated from Juneau High School in 1959 and married his high-school sweetheart, Thirza Tillema, on July 2, 1960.  Roy and Thirza moved their family to Horicon in 1965, when they bought a farm east of Horicon.  The family has been farming there ever since.  Roy was a member of FFA in high school and supported FFA after graduation.  He was State FFA Vice President in 1960-61, and received the American Farmer Degree in 1961 in Kansas City.

Roy was also active on the Horicon School Board, serving for 16 years,  10  of which he served as President.  He also enjoyed being outdoors in the field or with his dog Titan, working on his model trains, bowling, and traveling whenever possible.

Roy is survived by his wife of 56 years, Thirza; his five children: Sandra Kuhlman, Laura(Bryan) Schmude, Linda Kuhlman, Mark (fiancée Stephanie Frei) Kuhlman, and Amy Kuhlman; two grandchildren: Zackery (Dana) Schmude and Stefanie Schmude, sister Carol (Ken ) Graves, and many nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, brother Raymond Kuhlman, and sister Shirley (Kuhlman) Reinhardt, and brother-in-law Ross Tillema.

Family will receive relatives and friends Saturday, November 5, from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home-Juneau.  Memorial Service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home.  Rev. Scott Moore will officiate.
